Dong Won Sweet and Spicy Topokki promises 'secret sauce' with sweet, spicy flavours. Nothing like rice cakes smothered in Dong's Secret Sauce

Overall we've got a pretty bold orange and purple colour scheme... probably wouldn't be approved by mom if i was to wear it. Removing the shrink-wrap reveals the loose-fitting lid made entirely of cardboard. Inside is a comical fork, rice cakes and a sauce sachet...although it is just powder. Instructions are written in English and Korean, and everything actually has English translations, and it's easy to read. I like that.
Preparation couldn't be simpler. Simply remove the rice cakes from the clear containg bag, removing the sachet of 'do not eat'. Add sauce powder and boiling water to the line. Replace lid and place in microwave for 2.5 to 3.5 minutes.
Remove the meal from the microwave. Mine actually exploded, and I quote: "Oh it's everywhere. Like my entire microwave is covered in a layer of red." So maybe I bought the 'Self Ejecting Lid' version.
It looks like topokki, it smells pretty good, but does it taste good? It's spicy, and sweet... so I can't call them liars. It's got some real chilli flavour and there's even subtle paprika and onion notes.
Overall 7/10
- Not a liar
- Explosive personality in more ways than one
- Drives a Bentley
